Mark [Twain] My Words

Holiday season has finally come to a close! As we attempt once more to vacuum the obstinate pine needles that are still somehow all over the floor, and carefully refold the tissue paper so that it can be used again next year (It is a recession, people.), it is impossible to ignore the fact that our news feeds are running rampant with relationship status updates. From intimate winter-wonderland-cabin-in-the-woods Christmas proposals to glitzy New Year’s Eve engagements, we have to admit that love is in the air.

The idea of forever is beautiful (albeit intimidating) and whether you have found the ever-elusive “one” or not1, the romance and wonder of it all has undoubtedly crossed your mind. Even heartbreak can solidify our belief in true love – this is why we are still watching Kim and Kourtney Take New York despite the fact that the Fairytale love story between Kim and Kris does not end happily ever after. We want to be a part of the journey, we want to understand why it fell apart, and we secretly want to see Kim bounce back and find the man she was always meant to end up with.

Maybe the heartbreak-to-hope theory is a stretch for you right now, and maybe you find yourself continually coming back to a place where true, forever love seems to be nothing but an illusion. If this is the case, my advice would be twofold: 1) Be patient. 2) Never part with your illusions. When they are gone, you may still exist, but you have ceased to live (Shout out to Mark Twain).

1. If you have found the “one” please share your engagement story with us – we LOVE love! Be sure to visit eventsbykristin.net for help planning your Big Day!
